Fallow Deer Hunting

Fallow Deer Hunting Details

At Texas Hunt Lodge, we take pride in offering some of the finest Fallow Deer hunting experiences in the world. With a range of options available, hunters can choose from white fallow bucks, spotted fallow deer, or chocolate fallow deer bucks for their Trophy Fallow Deer hunt.

There are no seasonal restrictions on hunting Fallow Deer in Texas, making it an ideal pursuit when they are hard-antlered. We recommend scheduling hunts from late August through December, and in some years, extending into February.

Our hunters have the flexibility to select their preferred hunting method, whether it’s Spot and Stalk, Bow Hunting, Rifle Hunting, Black Powder, Safari Style Hunting, Handgun, or hunting from a Blind. We cater to hunters of all ages and experience levels, including those with physical disabilities or who may be confined to a wheelchair.

Through our Fallow Breeding Programs, we have access to exceptional Monster Hungarian Fallow, ensuring that your trophy has the potential to rank among the top entries in the SCI and Trophy Game Records of the World records books. Additionally, upon request, we can score your Fallow Deer Trophy and enter it on your behalf for Awards Banquets at SCI, TGR, and HSC.

Late August through the end of October offers the best opportunity to hunt Fallow Deer, as our Big Fallow Bucks will be hard-horned and in prime condition. Join us for the chance to pursue some of the Biggest Fallow Deer in the World and create unforgettable hunting memories.

The Fallow Deer is native to the Mediterranean region of Europe and Asia Minor.  The fallow deer has been introduced to 93 Texas counties, primarily in the Edwards Plateau region. In 1988, the Texas population was estimated to be 14,163, both free-ranging and confined animals combined.

The adult male Fallow Deer stands between 32 and 48 inches high at the shoulder and weighs up to 200 pounds. Fallow Deer antlers are broadly palmated with several small tines and 1 large tine arising from the back of the palm, known as the heal-tine.  A good set of Fallow antlers will measure at least 28 inches in length with an inside span of 24 inches or more and have upwards of 20 points.
Fallow deer in the Hill Country naturally appear in three different color schemes: chocolate, spotted and white.  Fallow Venison makes an excellent meal and is considered one of the top three best tasting exotics to eat.
